Tandara Zimbabwe is a space for stories and conversations about Zimbabweans — at home and across the diaspora.
We write about the things people are already discussing around dinner tables, in WhatsApp groups, on social media and during those long phone calls home: family, relationships, migration, money, culture, inheritance, work and the complicated realities of living between different worlds.
Some stories begin with experiences shared directly with us. Others grow from conversations already happening within the Zimbabwean community.
But Tandara is interested in more than simply repeating what was said.
We look for the bigger question behind the story.
A disagreement over a family house might really be a conversation about inheritance, responsibility and the expectations placed on relatives abroad.
A discussion about dating overseas might reveal something about migration, identity, changing expectations and how difficult it can be to rebuild community away from home.
These are rarely stories with one obvious answer.
And that is the point.
Your voice matters
Tandara is not here to tell Zimbabweans what to think.
We want to create a place where different experiences can be heard, challenged and discussed respectfully.
You may agree strongly with a story. You may completely disagree with it. Sometimes the comments and responses may raise questions more interesting than the original story itself.
That conversation is part of Tandara.
Sharing stories with us
People may submit experiences and questions for possible publication.
Where appropriate, identifying details may be removed or changed to protect someone’s privacy. We also encourage people submitting stories involving other individuals to avoid unnecessary identifying information.
Publication does not necessarily mean Tandara agrees with every opinion expressed in a submitted story.

Zimbabweans may now live thousands of kilometres apart, but many of the conversations connecting us remain remarkably familiar.
Tandara Zimbabwe is where we continue them.
